Posted 8/21/2006 The USDA Forest Service - Forest Products Laboratory (www.fpl.fs.fed.us) has funded an on-line homeowner's wildfire mitigation guide and has provided a hotlink from their website to U of C website: groups.ucanr.org/HWMG/ that is providing on-line service. A checklist is in Appendix I on that website. I suppose the homeowner can print it out and just encircle the items that applies to them. The U of C (their webmaster?) can probably be contacted to create an on-line fill-in form and to make the rest of the WUI mitigation guide more tailored to the U.S. Southest region - Mark Dietenberger

Posted 6/22/2006 Great question! I've forwarded this on to our science editor and Advances In Fire Practices section manager on the www.wildfirelessons.net site. He may have heard something.
When we find it/them, we will probably want to get it into the LLC Library and on the Forms and Examples page too.
I've asked the site programmers to set up an "Ask The Community" area on everyone's home page so requests for help like this can go out to a lot more people. Over 1,000 are members now. Note: This response has been edited by an administrator

Posted 6/21/2006 Our agency has been involved in Firewise for about 5 years now, and we're at the point of needing an electronic home risk assessment form. We currently use a form created in Excel, but used in paper form for the field. I have done some research on programs written for ArcPad, etc. that are commercially available, and also know of the WHAM program written by the NPS at Shenandoah NP.
Does anyone know of any other software, tailored to this subject? Or any other information regarding forms, etc. would be welcome. Thanks!
